When Paris Hilton sat down to create Paris & Pups, her new animated series on YouTube, she had one nonnegotiable: It couldn’t be the kind of kids content that parents suffer through in the background. As a mom of two, Hilton knows firsthand how precious screen time is, both for children and the adults sitting beside them.
"Seeing a lot of the available cartoons, I don't think a lot of them have a good message, or they're not really appropriate for kids, or they're just boring," Hilton tells Yahoo. "I'm not into Cocomelon or any of that. I think it's annoying."
Instead of the shrill, often grating options that dominate streaming queues, Hilton wanted to create something that blends fun with substance. Paris & Pups follows Paris Star, a 12-year-old version of herself, and five fabulous pups who live in a luxury hotel and embark on colorful adventures. At the heart of each episode is a simple through line, as she says the series celebrates kindness and happiness.
"It's completely developed from me as a little girl, growing up at the Waldorf Astoria in New York with my puppies and all the adventures we'd go on. [Star's] like me in every single way. She's kind. She's loving. She's creative. She loves her puppies," says Hilton, who, as we talk, has her new Japanese long-haired teacup Chihuahua named Iconic Princess Hilton on her lap. "Star loves spreading sparkle and joy around the world. She loves music and fun and fashion. She's just a really cool little girl."

Hilton and her husband, Carter Reum, are parents to son Phoenix, 2, and London, who will turn 2 in November. Motherhood, Hilton says, has pushed her to rethink what she gives her energy to.
“My kids are my everything. They're my No. 1 priority,” she says. “Before I had kids, I was on a plane over 250 days a year. Now I’ve learned to say no and only take on projects that are really meaningful to me in my life.”
It's why she feels entering the "mommy space" is a natural step. Hilton says her kids are the first to watch every episode of Paris & Pups, which has scored her points at home.
"Every time we get a new episode, we watch it together. They're staring at the screen, laughing, smiling, pointing: 'my mama, my puppy, Diamond Baby.' They know they're literally watching their mom and their dogs," she smiles. "As a mom, you want your kids to think you're the cool mom. The fact that they're watching a cartoon and seeing their mom and their puppies, I feel like a really cool mom."
So what else earns screen time in the Hilton-Reum household? Yahoo Lists asks Hilton to share the five things she’ll happily (and willingly) watch with her kids.

Paris & Pups
Because it's my new animated series, and it's the cutest cartoon ever made, and I love it.
I wanted something parents could enjoy too, but that also always has a message. You'll feel like you're learning something from every episode of Paris & Pups: the importance of kindness, responsibility, coming together as friends and supporting each other. Anytime there's a problem, [Star] and her pups solve it together.

Moana
We've watched it 350 times together. They love it, and it's their favorite movie. They love the songs ... even though they don't know the words.

Toy Story
It's a classic and I love it. They love it so much that we're dressing up as Toy Story characters for Halloween. My husband is going to be Woody, I'm going to be his girlfriend, Bo Peep. And then [my son] will be Buzz Lightyear, and London will be the little cowgirl.

The Velveteen Rabbit
We just watched it recently, and they really loved that one as well. That's something that I grew up watching as a little girl, so now the new movie that came out was really special to watch with them.

Care Bears
I don’t know if they still have it, but I love Care Bears. It has a positive message, and they're little icons. I loved how they all had different things on their chest and would shine them out together. They always spread love and sparkle, just like me. Watching them as a little girl really shaped who I am today.
