Georgia legend and ex-Colts kicker has fun way of reminding NFL teams he's available

Georgia football legend and former Indianapolis Colts kicker Rodrigo Blankenship is hoping to get another opportunity in the NFL.

Blankenship signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2020, but injury and ineffective play derailed his time there. He got another chance with the Cardinals in 2022, but he wasn't able to stick.

In 2023, Blankenship landed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his third shot in the NFL. Unfortunately for him, he didn't make it through final cuts and was waived in August of that year.

Since then, Blankenship has played one season in the UFL. In 2025, he was nearly perfect, making 21-of-22 field goals (95.5%). He ranked tied for first in field goal percentage and second in total makes.

Despite that, Blankenship didn't land an NFL contract as so many UFL players have over the years, but he isn't giving up.

Blankenship recently revealed on social media that he will reenact the three-longest field goals made in NFL games each week.

"I'm back with a new series, recreating the best kicks from each week of the NFL season every week until I get a new tryout," he said in a social media post. "I wasn't really expecting to be here after the year I had in the UFL, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles. We're gonna keep working, keep putting out good tape and keep trusting the process."

We've already seen multiple teams have kicker issues over the first few weeks of the season, including the San Francisco 49ers and Buffalo Bills. However, that hasn't led to Blankenship getting so much as a tryout.

But it's a long season and more kicker issues are sure to arise around the league. It feels like a matter of time before Blankenship gets his next shot.

Until then, he's wisely reminding teams that he's available.
