J.J. McCarthy is a father!
The Minnesota Vikings quarterback and his fiancée, Katya Kuropas, shared they they welcomed their baby boy on Friday, Sept. 12.
"Welcome to the world Rome Micah McCarthy. The sweetest, most perfect gift from God!! We are so unbelievably blessed to be your parents 8.7lb 21 in.," the caption read of their joint Instagram post.
The excited new father commented, "God is GREAT!" and added in a separate comment praising his future wife, "& so are you my love."
The engaged couple shared their announcement on Instagram that they were expecting their first child together back in May.
"The best surprises come when you least expect them. Our sweet baby boy is arriving in September and we couldn’t be happier," the joint post caption read.
Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell shared that McCarthy participated in meetings on Thursday but then left to go be by his fiancée's side, per ESPN.
"If you seeing this now, congratulations my boy, congratulations," Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson said after Thursday's practice, as if he was speaking to McCarthy per the outlet. "I'm excited for him for this new chapter, this new journey. But after you get done, come on back!"
McCarthy is expected to play on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. So far, the Vikings are off to a good start this season after defeating the Bears 27-24.
