Arrowpoint Investment Partners plans to raise $400m in new capital – report

Arrowpoint Investment Partners is planning to raise up to $400m in fresh capital by the first quarter of 2026 as part of its strategy to expand its investment teams, Bloomberg reported citing a person with knowledge of the matter.

The $1.2bn firm is led by Jonathan Xiong, a former co-CEO of Millennium Management Asia.

This initiative marks the first time that Arrowpoint is seeking additional funding since October last year. The firm aims to achieve $2bn in assets by the end of 2026, with some commitments already secured towards this goal.

Based in Singapore and Hong Kong, Arrowpoint is among a select group of Asia-based firms that employ a business model similar to that of larger global hedge funds such as Millennium, Citadel, and Point72 Asset Management.

This model involves distributing capital among various investors who utilise different strategies.

In a competitive environment for both talent and investment, Arrowpoint, along with Dymon Asia Capital and Polymer Capital Management, has emphasised its focus on the evolving capital markets in the region.

At its launch, Arrowpoint received backing from prominent investors, including the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Blackstone, and a unit of Temasek Holdings.

The hedge fund began trading in July 2023 and reported a return of 7.3% in the first eight months of 2025, following a 3% gain in August.

Despite Arrowpoint's performance and fundraising efforts, the overall market for multistrategy hedge funds has seen a decline in investor interest.

In light of this trend, Asia-based firms like Arrowpoint are highlighting their regional focus.

Newer firms often experience challenges in their early months due to higher fixed costs, and the current shift in investor sentiment increases the pressure on these firms to deliver results, reported the publication.

A significant contributor to Arrowpoint's performance this year has been its trading activities in Asian currencies and interest rates. The firm is set to welcome You Jiong as its ninth Asia macro portfolio manager later this month.

Jiong previously held the position of managing director and head of foreign exchange and local markets trading for Greater China at Citigroup. He has also worked as a senior portfolio manager at Millennium and ExodusPoint Capital Management.

Jiong will focus on the Chinese market at Arrowpoint, with the firm agreeing to support him if he decides to establish his own fund in the future.

Additionally, Wei Wei joined as a portfolio manager in August after working at Astignes Capital Asia Pte Ltd, while Jacky Yeung, formerly of Brevan Howard Asset Management, joined earlier this year.
