Mariners make major Colt Emerson promotion announcement

Colt Emerson is knocking on the door.

The Seattle Mariners' top prospect has been officially promoted to Triple-A Tacoma.

Emerson, who ranks No. 11 in all of baseball among prospects by MLB Pipeline, has an .826 OPS on the season across High-A and Double-A.

The 20-year old shortstop will be the second-youngest player at Triple-A this season.

Emerson closed out the Double-A season with a nine-game hitting streak, during which he hit .356 and stole five bases.

Colt Emerson has sneakily had an excellent season, posting an .827 OPS across A+ and AA. He'll get to finish out the season at the AAA level.

This bodes well for Emerson, and we could see him in Seattle in the first half of 2026 at just 20 years old!pic.twitter.com/I1pDMkVtak

Emerson's total stats for the season across High-A and Double-A so far: a triple-slash line of .281/.380/.446 with 14 home runs and 13 stolen bases.

This move gives Emerson a first exposure to the level he will likely open the 2026 season at. And if Emerson looks comfortable now and next spring, he could be targeting a first-half promotion to Seattle in 2026.

The Mariners have been careful not to rush him, but Emerson has performed at every step along the way, and so he has kept getting opportunities to move up. And now he's only one step away.
