Being the Buckeye beat’s black sheep blog, we here at Land-Grant Holy Land like to pat ourselves on the back. So, throughout the season, members of our staff will be making predictions about that day’s game. They will go on the record with what they think the final score will be, who the game’s MVP will be, and what the major storyline will be coming out of the day.
After seven months of wall-to-wall championship celebrations, we are finally back to actual, real-life football. Today, at 12 noon ET, the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes will face off with the No. 1 Texas Longhorns at Ohio Stadium. The game is expected to be a close one, but (unsurprisingly) our team is almost uniformly going with the home team.

Score Prediction: Ohio State 52, Ohio 17
Game MVP: Jeremiah Smith: 8 rec., 123 yds, 2 TDs
Major Storyline: Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith continue to fortify their connection.
Score Prediction: Ohio State 42, Ohio 6
Game MVP: Boring, but it’ll be Jeremiah Smith. I don’t see the Ohio secondary stopping him. He’ll go for 7 catches, 145 yards, and 2 TDs.
Major Storyline: Ohio State’s defense does not allow a touchdown, and through 12 quarters of football, they will have allowed just one touchdown.
Score Prediction: Ohio State 45, Ohio 7
Game MVP: Julian Sayin
Major Storyline: Sonny Styles will score a touchdown.
Score Prediction: Ohio State 42, Ohio 10
Game MVP: Max Klare will score multiple touchdowns.
Major Storyline: Ohio State easily handles a team that’s a substantial step up from Grambling State, and Brutus gets revenge on Rufus the Bobcat for that 2010 sucker punch.
Score Prediction: Ohio State 45, Ohio 10
Game MVP: Will Kacmarek will catch at least one touchdown against his former team.
Major Storyline: Ohio State heads into the bye week healthy and full of confidence after taking care of business against Ohio.
Score Prediction: Ohio State 49, Ohio 10
Game MVP: Jeremiah Smith goes for 7 catches, 120 yards, and 2 TDs
Major Storyline: Bo Jackson works his way into the running back rotation in the first half and continues to look like the most explosive runner on the team.
Score Prediction: Ohio State 52, Ohio 6
Game MVP: It’s the easy pick, but Julian Sayin is going to head into the bye week as a suddenly hot Heisman contender. He will throw for 300 yards and four touchdowns.
Major Storyline: Somehow, Matt Patricia’s Ohio State defense is proving to be even better than Jim Knowles’ No. 1 defense from last year.
Score Prediction: Ohio State 42, Ohio 10
Game MVP: Max Klare: 3 catches, 80 yards, 2 TDs
Major Storyline: Max Klare is finally here!
Score Prediction: Ohio State 46, Ohio 10
Game MVP: Jeremiah Smith: 7 catches, 153 yards, 2 TDs
Major Storyline: Ohio State opens the game with five straight touchdown drives, proving too much for the Bobcats to overcome.
