Absurd points total for Jets to beat Bills revealed

For most, the New York Jets have no chance at slaying the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium in Week 2, despite Aaron Glenn's team's positive performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1.

Part of that is where the Jets are in their "rebuild" of sorts under Glenn, and the other part is the Bills just hung 41 points on a Baltimore Ravens defense that is seen as one of the better units in football.

Plus, the Bills have had their way with the Jets of late, winning eight of the last 10, including the previous three, so there is a history there of Buffalo laying the beatdown to its division rivals.

So, not many give the Jets a chance based on where they are in their rebuild and the fact that the Bills are Super Bowl favorites.

But given that the Ravens scoring 40 points wasn't enough, how many points would the Jets need to score to win? NFL.com's Tom Blair jokingly wrote that Justin Fields and Co. might have to score 50 or even 75 to feel comfortable at keeping the Bills at arm's length.

Yeah, it's a joke, but there might be merit to it. Either way, 40 wasn't enough to get it done in Week 1.

Can Jets pass brutal Bills test?

Now, it depends on what constitutes a "pass," but for most, that is winning the game.

Yes, that seems like a tall order, but what if the Jets are competitive and don't get blown out? Say, in a similar fashion to Week 6 of last year, which was a 23-20 loss?

That might be enough for some to suggest that things are trending in the right direction for Glenn and his team. Of course, winning is the perfect scenario, but getting close and going toe-to-toe with Buffalo isn't a bad alternative.

Either way, not many are giving New York a chance, and I get the sense this is just what Glenn wants.

Is an upset on the cards?
