2026 QB Matai Fuiava no longer enrolled at Kahuku (Hawaii)

According to a report by HawaiiNewsNow, senior quarterback Matai Fuiava is no longer enrolled at Hawaii powerhouse Kahuku, the No. 2 team in the state. Per the report, Fuiava has moved back to California to rehabilitate a lower leg injury, which will sideline the quarterback for potentially more than a month.

Fuiava was previously enrolled at one of the nation’s top high school programs, St. John Bosco (Calif.), for his sophomore season and a portion of his junior year before transferring to Kahuku in the fall of 2024.

During Fuiava’s junior season, the signal caller was sharing time behind center with then-freshman quarterback Koa Malau’ulu, who is now the current full-time starter for the Braves.

In the first five games of his 2024 junior season for St. John Bosco, Fuiava completed 72 passes for 1,155 yards and 13 touchdowns to two interceptions. Fuiava also saw limited action in 2023 as a sophomore, playing in five games and completed 11 of 16 passes for 137 yards, with four touchdowns.

Kahuku is coming off facing the No. 1 ranked Mater Dei Monarchs last week, falling in a tightly contested 21-18 loss. The Red Raiders are currently 2-3 on the current season as they head into the second half of their regular season schedule and are slated to face Kapolei (3-1) this upcoming weekend.
