The Michigan Wolverines have incorporated numerous offensive styles in the 21st century thus far, and it has led to some notable production from some stars. With various offensive philosophies from the likes of Rich Rodriguez, Josh Gattis, and Bo Schembechler, plenty of Wolverines were able to showcase their skills in hopes of leaving a lasting impact.
Tony Garcia of the Detroit Free Press sought to recognize some of these stars by releasing the Michigan football All-21st Century Team. The team consisted of one quarterback, one running back, two wide receivers, two tight ends, and one player at each of the five positions on the offensive line.
Here are the names that Garcia deemed as the best of the 2000's thus far:
QB: J.J. McCarthy (2021-23)
RB: Blake Corum (2020-23)
WR: Braylon Edwards (2001-04)
WR: Mario Manningham (2005-07)
TE: Colston Loveland (2022-24)
TE: Jake Butt (2013-16)
LT: Jake Long (2003-07)
LG: Trevor Keegan (2019-23)
C: David Molk (2007-11)
RG: Zak Zinter (2020-23)
RT: Michael Schofield: (2009-13)
These players were all listed on the First Team (there were three teams total). A handful of other notable players were also recognized, including QBs Chad Henne (second team) and Denard Robinson (third team); RBs Mike Hart (second team) and Chris Perry (third team); WR Jason Avant (second team); TEs Luke Schoonmaker (second team) and Devin Funchess (third team); LT Taylor Lewan (second team); C Cesar Ruiz (second team).
Notable players left off the list include QB John Navarre, RBs Hassan Haskins, Donovan Edwards, and Kalel Mullings, and WRs Roman Wilson and Nico Collins.
