Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany knows that every fan wants to see the club’s shiny, new toy — Chelsea loanee Nicolas Jackson — in action as soon as possible.
Kompany, though, wants everyone to be patient as Jackson adapts to his new surroundings.
“The first phase is very important for him, until the next international break. He didn’t have a proper preseason at Chelsea. He’s a natural athlete and won’t need long to get back to 100%. We have to make sure we build up his rhythm. He’s a player with a lot of quality and has scored goals in the Premier League. I believe we’ll be able to capitalize on his qualities very quickly,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “We’re very flexible up front. His profile is totally compatible; he can play with everyone. He’ll play an important role this season.”
For board member for sport Max Eberl, the journey to get Jackson was a roller coaster ride.
“It was actually all done, up until Liam Delap’s injury. Jacko was then clear in saying he wanted to stay. It was a big fight. He had other offers, even for a permanent transfer. But the key was that we had a player who really wanted to join us. It all worked out in the end, which is the most important thing. It was an intense 48 hours with lots of ups and downs, but we were really focused on making it happen and found a good solution. We’re really pleased Nicolas is here,” said Eberl.
Bayern Munich is in a very interesting part of its season, which is sandwiched between two international breaks. What should we expect? Will Vincent Kompany be able to manage it effectively? There is a lot to discuss.
