Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik was on to something when he called out Syracuse for faking injuries during Saturday's game. The ACC fined Syracuse $25,000 on Monday for the tactic, the conference announced.
In a statement, the ACC called out a specific play that resulted in the fine. With 9:25 left to play, the ACC said two Syracuse players faked injuries. The ACC did not mention the players by name. The conference said the tactic was in violation of Rule 3-3-6-b, which calls feigning injuries "unethical and contrary to the spirit of the rules."
After reviewing the footage, the ACC said the players' actions were "a clear attempt to gain an unmerited advantage" over Clemson.
