Bad offense, defense, coaching and other Titans bullets

The Tennessee Titans were the worst team in the NFL in 2024. That’s how they ended up with the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Somehow, they have gotten even worse in 2025. How much worse have they gotten?

  • The Titans have been outgained by 454 yards through three weeks this season after being outgained by just 10 yards through three weeks last season:
  • That is a product of the offense and the defense both being significantly worse than they were last year. It’s brutal all the way around.
  • Blake Beddingfield, like the rest of us, struggled to come away from this game with many positives. The only highlight here is that rookie wide receivers Elie Ayomanor and Chimere Dike are two of the positives. That bodes well for the future of the franchise if they can stack a couple more good drafts (and find a competent coach).
  • Beddingfield noted in that piece that Cam Ward has developed a bad habit of locking onto his number one read and then not going through the proper progression if the first read isn’t open. That’s what led to the pick six on the first drive.
  • Jim Wyatt was once the best reporter on the Titans beat. His role has changed since he became a member of the team’s official site, but he let his feelings about Brian Callahan come through in yesterday’s piece about the game:
  • It was a big weekend for former Titans safety Kevin Byard:
  • No one is more deserving of accolades than Byard. He will be inducted into the Ring of Honor here once his career is over. I wonder if Amy Adams-Strunk will speak at that one.
  • That comment, of course, is because she didn’t speak at Mike Keith’s induction yesterday, presumably because she didn’t want to get booed. She was front and center during the good times, but has faded into the background now that this franchise is in the toilet. It’s no wonder there is no accountability in that building.
