Serhou Guirassy opened the scoring for Borussia Dortmund as they secured a 2-0 win against Heidenheim on Matchday 3 of the Bundesliga.
It means that Guirassy – among non-German players in Bundesliga history – has now scored in eight consecutive league games, bettered only by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (10) and Robert Lewandowski (15 on four occasions), according to Opta.
Guirassy’s stats over the last calendar year speak for themselves, and it is becoming increasingly harder to argue that the Guinean is not among the top five best strikers in the world right now. The ones who are ahead of him are Harry Kane, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé, then potentially Alexander Isak when he is fit.
The 29-year-old now has four goals in three Bundesliga games this season, and since joining die Schwarzgelben in 2023, has scored 53 goals in his last 61 appearances.
