Real Madrid defender sends defiant message after injury setback – ‘I’ll rise again’

Real Madrid were handed a major injury blow earlier this week as it was confirmed that Antonio Rudiger was sidelined with a thigh problem.

The German international is now expected to be out for close to three months, ruling him out of action until December.

It comes as a big setback for Real Madrid, given the value he brings to the team with his experience and leadership.

Rudiger vows to come back stronger

Following his injury, Rudiger has now taken to social media to send a message to the fans, where he thanked them for his support and vowed to fight hard to come back stronger.

“First of all, thank you so much for all your get well soon messages. I really appreciate every single one,” Rudiger wrote.

Continuing, he added: “As you all know there’s nothing I hate more than not being able to be out there with my teammates, fighting for the club.

“But one thing’s for sure: I’ll give everything to be back at 100% as soon as possible. l’ve been through setbacks before and I’ll rise again. Always.”

Raul Asencio to benefit

While Rudiger’s absence is a blow, it also comes as a major opportunity for youngster Raul Asencio, who has had a marginal role so far under Xabi Alonso.

The 22-year-old starlet has barely played this term after some high-profile mistakes during the FIFA Club World Cup.

But with Rudiger unavailable for an extended period and David Alaba’s own fitness concerns, Alonso is likely to count on the La Fabrica talent more moving forward, especially given the busy fixture schedule.
