Rare corn moon to light up night sky tonight

Make sure to look up at the night sky tonight as we’ll be treated to the rare Corn Moon.

Traditionally named for the season when corn harvesting begins across North America, this event marks the last full moon of summer and signals the changing of the seasons.

This full moon will be even more special for some, as it coincides with a total lunar eclipse. Across Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, the moon will take on a reddish, blood-like hue during totality, as Earth’s shadow passes over it.

While we’ll miss out on this eclipse, we’ll have another chance to witness one on March 3, 2026.

For the best view of tonight’s Corn Moon, step outside shortly after sunset and look toward the eastern horizon.
