Police arrest 4 people after shooting of Florida State linebacker Ethan Pritchard

Four people were arrested on Wednesday in connection to the shooting of Florida State’s Ethan Pritchard last month, according to The Associated Press.

Jayden Bodison, Caron Miller, Germany Atkins and a fourth unnamed minor have been arrested, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Wednesday. Bodison, Miller and the unnamed minor were charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle. Atkins was charged with one count of probation violation.

Pritchard, a freshman Linebacker at Florida State, was shot in the back of his head on Aug. 30 while he was in Havana, Florida, visiting family. He was shot while inside of a vehicle just before 10 p.m., and he was taken to a local hospital. He is still recovering in the hospital, but is in stable condition.

While further specifics of the incident are not yet known, Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young said they believe it was a case of mistaken identity.

Pritchard did not play in the Seminoles’ season-opener, but his family was in attendance for Saturday’s blowout win over Texas A&M-Commerce. Players all wore No. 35 wristbands to honor Pritchard in that game, too, and head coach Mike Norvell presented Pritchard’s father with the game ball after the win.

"The way that he plays the game ... he loves it, he absolutely loves it," Norvell said on Saturday. "To know that right now that's taken away from him in a senseless act, you don't always know why you have to go through things in life, but I do believe God has his hand over Ethan and this football team," Norvell said.

"To have Earl here today — he's a wonderful man, and being with him I know it's so very hard. I know it's hard for anybody to have to go through, but he told me early in this week, 'I know where my boy wants to be so I'm going to go stand in his place for him.'"
