Player of the Series: Tristan Gray

The Tampa Bay Rays just dropped two of three against the Chicago White Sox, the team with the worst record in the American League and the worst record in baseball over the past two years, the Rays have gone 4-8 against them over that time.

The Rays managed to win the first game of the series on Monday, but only because of the heroics of our Player of the Series, Tristan Gray.

Entering the 7th inning, the Rays bullpen had sqaundered yet another lead as the Rays went from being ahead 4-1 to being tied with just three inning s remaining. Chicago had former Ray, Tyler Alexander on the mound, and Kevin Cash decided to keep Tristan Gray in the game to face the southpaw. With a 1-0 count, Alexander offered a 92mph fastball that cut over the heart of the plate. Gray turned on it and clobbered deep into the right field seats for a go-ahead HR to give the Rays lead and an eventual 5-4 victory.

The 29-year old infielder was originally acquired by the Tampa Bay in the deal that sent Corey Dickerson to the Pittsburgh Pirates and returned to the Rays organization in late July. Since being brought up the active roster, Gray is hitting .222/.280/.467 with 3 HR over 50 PA.
