The Boston Celtics were on the road on Monday night as they faced off against the New York Knicks in Game 4 of their second-round series at Madison Square Garden.
Boston entered Game 4 looking to tie the series up 2-2 with a victory, but that would not be the case as they once again blew a lead in the second half, losing the game 121-113 after Jalen Brunson had another incredible performance for New York.
With the loss, the Celtics now fall behind 3-1 in the series as they head home for Game 5 on Wednesday night.
Despite the loss, the Celtics saw another incredible performance by their star forward Jayson Tatum who ended the game with 42 points, eight rebounds, four assists, four blocks and two steals.
With his incredible performance in Game 4, Tatum made NBA playoff history.
The NBA announced that Tatum moved into 12th on the all-time playoff three-pointers made list with 286.
The star forward passed Derek Fisher on the list and he now sits just six behind NBA legend and Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant for 11th on the list.
Tatum hit seven three-pointers in Monday’s contest on 16 attempts as he tried to will the Celtics to a much-needed victory, though they fell short.
Of course, the night would not end on a good note for Tatum after he exited the game in serious pain after suffering a non-contact right leg injury late in the fourth quarter.
Tatum was helped to the locker room and placed in a wheelchair and rolled to the locker room as he was unable to put any weight on his right leg.
This is a devastating injury for Tatum and one that will likely keep sidelined for Game 5, and possibly longer if it is a serious injury.
Tatum is set to have an MRI on Tuesday and the Celtics will provide an update afterwards.
