It was inevitable. At his Friday press conference, Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl was asked about his tumultuous week (month?) and if there was concern for his future at Bayern Munich. As he always seems to do, Eberl deftly talked around the rumors that he might he ready to leave the club.
“I want to do a good job here. I started 17 or 18 months ago, and it wasn’t an easy situation. I do what I do with passion; I’m passionate about it. Last summer, we found an outstanding coach, both as a person and as a coach. Then it was a matter of changing the squad. The contract extensions were essential. This summer, we’ve made adjustments on the squad again. Developing talent should never be about hype. We’ve started to cut costs and generate revenue. That’s what we stand for. My heart is here, I have big plans, and I want to be successful with Bayern Munich,” Eberl sad (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Eberl went way out of his way to avoid the actual question, but remaining focused on the task at hand is likely best for him at the moment. After a brief vacation, Eberl is now back fully into the mix — hopefully he has enough juice left in his batteries to embrace the long haul of this season.
Bayern Munich is back in Bundesliga action after an international break and just before the Champions League kicks off.
