Man United: Amorim urges patience with Sesko after big-money signing fires blanks in 3-0 loss

Manchester United suffered a crushing 3-0 loss to Manchester City, leaving the Red Devils with only four points from their first four Premier League games.

Man United were dominated from start to finish, putting manager Ruben Amorim under more pressure.

His new summer addition, Benjamin Sesko, is also feeling the heat after an uninspiring start to the season.

The £74 million Slovenian is under pressure to deliver the goods after being billed as an ‘exceptional young talent’ upon signing.

However, Sesko endured another frustrating game for United.

The 22-year-old completed only 7/13 passes (54% accuracy), won only 3/9 duels, and lost possession eight times.

Sesko is yet to get off the mark for the Red Devils after five games.

Amorim urged patience with Sesko, saying (via the BBC), “He is going to feel that he is in the strongest league in the world.

“We can help Sesko to use his qualities, but it will take time.”

Yesterday was his first start, and it was the perfect platform to showcase what he can do in front of eager fans, but it didn’t work out for him.

Despite spending heavily to reinforce the attack, the frontline continues to underwhelm.

It was not Sesko’s fault that he struggled against Man City. The entire Man United set-up did not help the former RB Leipzig striker.

He barely got a sniff in the dangerous zones, apart from one half-chance from which he forced a decent left-footed effort.

Sesko was isolated up top for long stretches of the game, and his teammates struggled to find him in lethal positions to cause damage in the final third.

Amorim is running out of time to get Manchester United back on track.

His formation and tactics aren’t working. He has been backed with big-money additions and cannot get the best of them.

The Portuguese tactician might find himself without a job soon if he cannot turn things around at the club.
