In a recent report, journalist Fraser Fletcher stated that Liverpool are monitoring the progress of Ajax starlet Aaron Bouwman. It is believed that the Reds would have to compete with Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona and Manchester City in the race to land the Dutch centre-back.
Bouwman’s Impressive Rise In Dutch Football
Bouwman has come through the youth ranks of Ajax and deserves a ton of credit for breaking into their senior team recently. The 18-year-old has made one senior appearance for the Dutch club so far.
The Dutch talent is currently one of the most promising young defenders back in his homeland. Thus, it is no wonder that the Reds are keeping tabs on his progress at the Eredivisie club.
His current contract at Ajax will run out in the summer of 2027, which could open the door for Liverpool to snap him up on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.

Liverpool Are Keeping Tabs On Bouwman: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Bouwman is a tough-tackling defender who can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and excels at playing his way out from the back.
Standing at 1.88m, the Dutch whizkid is a strong presence in the air as well. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to be ready for the Premier League if the Reds manage to get a deal over the line for him next year.
We can expect Bouwman to enhance the quality of Liverpool boss Arne Slot’s backline in the long run. He has what it takes to serve as an ideal long-term successor to Virgil Van Dijk, who turned 34 earlier this year. Bouwman is already good enough to play a useful role in Slot’s match-day squad.
At 18, the Dutch sensation is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future. Thus, it makes sense for the Merseyside club to step up their efforts to land Bouwman this January or at the end of this campaign. However, Slot has to be patient with his development before he can get the best out of the gifted youngster.
