Leverkusen extend contract with World Cup champion Palacios

Bayer Leverkusen have extended the contract with Argentinian World Cup winner Exequiel Palacios until June 2030, the Bundesliga club said in a statement on Friday.

The midfielder is currently unavailable due to injury and his previous deal ran until 2028.

"Exequiel Palacios has been one of the key players in recent years and will continue to take on a lot of responsibility in building a team that is hungry for success and capable of winning trophies," managing director sport Simon Rolfes said.

Palacios was part of the squad who won the Bundesliga and the German Cup in the unbeaten 2023-24 season.

"Bayer have gone through a breathtaking development since I arrived in Germany five years ago. It's a great feeling to have been an important part of this process," he said.
