Kyle Larson No. 5 car hit by fireworks debris, sparks concern ahead of Gateway NASCAR race

A moment of concern for Kyle Larson right before the start of the Enjoy Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway. The massive pyrotechnics show that happens before every race left a bit of debris on Larson’s car. This is typical for the race, but this time it was worse.

A sizeable piece of debris landed on the windshield of Kyle Larson’s car. He then dialed up his radio and told his team he was worried it was too hot for his tear-offs.

If those windshield tear-offs melted into each other, it would be very concerning. The good news, Larson was on the radio soon after dismissing the issue. The debris cooled off and it didn’t appear to be much of an issue.
