Knicks sign former Brooklyn Net to a training camp deal

The New York Knicks are bringing in a former Brooklyn Net for training camp, signing Tosan Evbuomwan to a deal ahead of camp, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Evbuomwan went undrafted out of Princeton, and has appeared in 45 NBA games in his two-year career. He’s averaging 8.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in time spent with the Nets, Detroit Pistons, and Memphis Grizzlies.

In 28 games with the Nets last season, he averaged 9.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, shooting 43 percent from the floor and 31 percent from three-point range. He’ll now compete for a roster spot in training camp with several other signees made by the Knicks, including Landry Shamet, Malcolm Brogdon, and Garrison Mathews. The Knicks have two two-way spots open on the roster, giving Evbuomwan a chance to snag one of those with a strong camp.

It won’t be easy for Evbuomwan to earn a spot in the Knicks’ rotation, given their newfound depth that they addressed this offseason. However, a strong training camp could impress either the Knicks, or any team in need of his services, so he’ll be looking to make quite the impression regardless of his future with the Knicks.
