Jennifer Garner just wore the coziest early-fall cardi — get the look for less than $50

It's no secret that the final days of summer and those first signs of fall can be tricky to dress for. The mornings start out chilly, things warm up by lunchtime, then dip down again by dusk. Layering is key when the forecast seems to be in shuffle mode, which is why I'm taking a cue from Jennifer Garner's love of the ideal early-fall knot. She recently posted pictures from her summer on Instagram and I haven't been able to stop thinking about the white sweater she wore in one of the photos (see the first photo in the carousel below).

Garner's white cardigan gives off major fisherman-aesthetic vibes, which was a big fashion trend this summer and will continue to be one through the fall. The slouchy knit makes for the ideal layering piece and looks stylish over T-shirts, tank tops or, as Garner shows us, even a collared top.

Luckily for everyone who wants to emulate the same effortless look, you don't need a movie-star budget to bring home a similar style. In fact, I spotted six similar fisherman-inspired knit sweaters that are all $50 or less.

This cable-knit cardigan is timeless, so it's sure to become one of the most versatile pieces in your entire closet. You can wear it over your end-of-season dresses right now and then layer it on top of your tees all fall.

One happy shopper shared: "I'm so happy with this cardigan! It's the perfect sweater for those chilly spring and fall days because the fabric is super warm and cozy without being too bulky. The cable-knit design is beautiful and looks way more expensive than it is."

While Garner's sweater didn't have gold buttons, this knit cardigan was too cute not to include. And while it does have a slouchy fit, the ribbed hem and cuffs keep it from looking overly boxy. This cardigan looks great layered over other tops, but it also looks lovely buttoned all the way up on its own.

"I absolutely love cardigans, and they're a staple in my fall wardrobe! This feels soft against your skin when wearing it with short-sleeved tees. It is a fall and spring sweater that can easily be worn in the winter if layered appropriately," wrote one reviewer.

This chunky sweater gives off major "rich mom" vibes, so I won't blame you if you also nab it in the other five colors it comes in. At less than $30, it's one of my favorite wallet-friendly picks too.

One shopper explained: "I love how white this sweater is. It’s not exactly stark, but whiter than vanilla/cream. It runs true to size and it’s super soft... I think it looks great worn alone as well as an outer layer. It’s just a great choice for the cooler weather that can be worn with anything."

This sweater pick may be the closet one to Garner's, and it's a steal for just $35. It comes in three other neutral shades, as well as regular, tall and petite lengths, so everyone can find their ideal fit.

"This cardigan is so soft and comfortable. I really like that it's 100% cotton because I cannot wear anything containing wool. Can be dressed up or down ... so perfect for fall," wrote one reviewer.

$35 at Old Navy

This 100% organic cotton sweater has so many cute details, from its dropped shoulders to the collar and oversized cuffs. You can snag this pick in beige and black if you already have a white cardi sitting pretty in your closet.

One five-star fan shared: "This sweater is exactly what I've been looking for. Comfortable, stylish, a good fit. I anticipate wearing it all fall and winter."

$50 at Quince

With the fisherman stitch and ribbed hem, cuffs and placket, this slouchy cotton cardigan from Quince is another near-identical style to Garner's. Also available in black and black and white stripes, this can easily be worn all year.

"Love the fisherman-style sweaters. This is my go-to cardigan. It looks great with a pair of jeans or can dress it up too," raved a five-star reviewer.
