Internet outages occurred in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, with the Palestinian telecoms company blaming Israeli attacks which hit critical infrastructure.

Parts of Gaza City are without internet, residents told dpa, while officials at telecoms firm Paltel based in the West Bank announced disruptions to landline and internet services in the strip.

NetBlocks, a global organization known for monitoring internet restrictions, said on X there was a "high impact" in the north of the Palestinian area.

"The incident, attributed to the targeting of one of the main fiber optic routes, comes amid a new Israeli ground operation in the region," it added.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said the military was investigating the reports.

Israel has been conducting a major ground offensive in Gaza City since Monday.
