Paris, 1998 UEFA Cup Final. A run off the backline, the pitch stretching out ahead of him, Marchegiani trying to stop him. Then the feint, body trembling, a deceiving gesture, the goalkeeper falling to the floor, the ball rolling into the back of the net. He is Fenomeno, he is Ronaldo. It's a goal like no other: a work of art that is passed on by everyone who has learned it off by heart. He arrived from Barcelona in the summer of 1997, and Ronaldo was more than your average centre-forward. He brought his unstoppable pace, incredible dribbling and joy of football in its purest form. He scored 59 goals in 99 games for Inter, leaving a huge mark: the cry of joy in Paris, the brace in Moscow against Spartak, the emotions that you don't forget. He was the first forward to be inducted into Inter's Hall of Fame and he changed the way to watch football by creating a new era in his own unique way.
From FC Internazionale Milano and all our fans, happy birthday to Ronaldo, who is turning 49 today.
