Hansi Flick breaks silence after Barcelona star’s costly error

Barcelona secured a 3-1 win against Real Oviedo in their sixth La Liga clash of the season on September 25, at Carlos Tartiere Stadium.

Oviedo's opening and sole goal of the match came from a misdirected pass by Barca's shot-stopper Joan Garcia to the home team's midfielder Alberto Reina in the 33rd minute, ending the first half in a 1-0 scoreline.

Despite Garcia's blunder in front of the goal, Barcelona were able to find the back of the net thrice, courtesy of Eric Garcia, Robert Lewandowski, and Ronald Araujo, to claim the win.

Speaking after the match, Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick addressed the defensive lapse by Garcia and dismissed it as a 'mistake,' highlighting that the 'important thing' was the Catalan side's victory.

What did Barcelona boss Hansi Flick say?

In his post-match press conference, Flick backed Garcia, referring to the Spaniard as a 'fantastic goalkeeper,' and said,

"It's the style we want him to play, and it can happen, that's what I have to say. He's a fantastic goalkeeper, the one who defends our back line, and he always does it very well. It was a mistake, and they took advantage of it, but it's football, and the important thing is that we won," as per GOAL.

The German manager further shared his thoughts on his squad’s display in the match and added,

"That's why they're here in the team [Lewandowski and De Jong]. In the first half, we played well, even though they scored, but we had a lot of chances."

"In the second half, I told them we had to keep going, play calmly, and be confident in playing with the ball, and we did well. Of course, we made the substitutions at the right time, with Frenkie and Lewy, and we were able to earn three points."

With this win against Oviedo, Barcelona extended their undefeated streak in La Liga, ranking second in the top flight with 16 points after four wins and one draw.
