Ex Inter Milan & Fiorentina Striker Offers His Serie A Title Predictions: “Inter & Napoli For The Scudetto”

Stevan Jovetic expects Inter Milan and Napoli to go head-to-head for the Scudetto this season, just as they did last term.

Speaking to FCInterNews after Montenegro’s loss to Croatia, the 35-year-old offered his Serie A title predictions.

Napoli pipped Inter Milan to the trophy in one of the most fascinating Scudetto races in recent memory last season.

Indeed, Antonio Conte beat Simone Inzaghi to the punch by the finest of margins.

The Partenopei finished just one point clear of the San Siro club in a season marred by VAR controversy.

However, it was a triumph, nonetheless.

Inzaghi has since parted ways with Inter, resulting in the appointment of Cristian Chivu as the new head coach.

Now it’s up to the 2010 treble winner to engineer Inter’s return to the throne, yet the competition looks formidable.

In addition to reigning champions Napoli, AC Milan and Juventus are also in the mix.

“They have strong players, and now my friend Kolarov is there too,” Jovetic said. “It will be a great match against Juventus.

“I give the edge to Inter, obviously. For me, Italian football is growing again, with great champions.

“I always follow the league with enthusiasm. Inter has always been a very important team.

“Back in my time with Mancini, we were a team rather than individual stars.

“The Champions League final loss? You have to look at the positives.

“It’s a new season, a new coach, everything is new. For me, the Scudetto race is between Inter and Napoli.”

Meanwhile, Jovetic captained Montenegro in a 4-0 loss at Croatia last night.

Petar Sucic was one of the protagonists of the Blazers’ dominant victory.

“I liked him a lot; I saw him in this match for the first time,” Jovetic said about the 21-year-old midfielder. “A player of great quality.”

Asked who the new Jovetic is at Inter, Stevan replied: “Lautaro and Thuram are top players.”

“But they have different characteristics from mine.”
