The Rams cornerbacks have come into question this season and whether the quality of that position group is good enough for L.A. to make a playoff run, but at least they could a bit of a break against the Colts this week. Indianapolis has ruled out receiver Alec Pierce due to a concussion.
How much do you believe the absence of Pierce will increase the Rams’ odds of beating the Colts? Were the Rams going to beat the Colts either way or does this give L.A. the advantage needed to win? Let us know what you believe in the comments.
Pierce has caught nine passes for 171 yards this season. It’s only three catches per game, but he’s averaging 19 yards per catch, which is actually less than Pierce’s league-leading 22.3 yards per catch in 2024. Pierce caught seven touchdowns last year and is one of the best deep threat receivers in the entire NFL. That could help the likes of Emmanuel Forbes and Darious Williams from getting burned by Daniel Jones in Week 4.
With Pierce out this week, the Colts may turn to AD Mitchell, a second round pick in 2024 praised for his speed coming out of Texas. However, Mitchell has struggled in the NFL. He only had 23 catches for 312 yards as a rookie and he’s played sparingly in 2025, catching four passes for 41 yards. In 20 career games, Mitchell has not scored a touchdown and he’s fumbled twice. For a second round pick, those are awfully concerning stats.
This could mean more opportunities for Michael Pittman and Tyler Warren; they’re tied for the team lead with 193 yards each. Josh Downs only has 10 catches for 97 yards, so he may see an increase as well.
Do you think Alec Pierce was going to play a huge role this weekend and what are your thoughts on AD Mitchell?
