Bo Nix ready to lead Broncos toward bigger things in 2025

The Denver Broncos finally ended their playoff drought in 2024, returning to the postseason for the first time since their Super Bowl 50 win. Much of that success came on the shoulders of rookie quarterback Bo Nix, who quickly showed he could be the long-term answer under center.

In his first season, Nix threw for 3,775 yards and 29 touchdowns while adding 430 rushing yards and four more scores on the ground. His ability to extend plays and make defenses pay with both his arm and legs gave the Broncos a new dimension at quarterback. Paired with his leadership and composure, he guided Denver to a 10-7 record and a long-awaited playoff berth.

It marked a turning point for a franchise that had endured years of inconsistency at the position. Since their Super Bowl win, Denver cycled through quarterbacks ranging from Trevor Siemian to Joe Flacco, searching for stability but never finding a clear franchise leader. That changed in the 2024 NFL Draft when the Broncos used the 12th overall pick to secure Nix, who has already begun reshaping the future in Denver.

The new season brings fresh challenges, beginning with a Week 1 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Nix will face off against Cam Ward, a young quarterback making his own NFL debut, in what should be an intriguing start to the year.

The Broncos did their part in the offseason to surround Nix with more weapons. They added UCF running back RJ Harvey in the third round of the draft, as well as Illinois wide receiver Pat Bryant, who will look to carve out a role in the passing game.

In free agency, Denver signed tight end Evan Engram, a proven playmaker known for his speed and versatility. Alongside second-year wideout Troy Franklin and the emerging Marvin Mims, the Broncos have built a promising young core of skill players.

The road ahead will not be easy. The AFC is stacked with talent, and the Broncos’ own division remains one of the toughest in football. Navigating the AFC West is never simple, and every divisional game carries weight. But with Nix under center, Denver has reason to believe they can compete with anyone.

In just one season, Nix has already showcased his accuracy, mobility, and poise in big moments. He has the look of a quarterback who can carry a franchise forward, and his continued growth will determine just how far the Broncos can go.

For a fan base that has waited years for a reliable answer at quarterback, the arrival of Bo Nix has provided hope. With new playmakers in place and playoff experience already under his belt, the Broncos appear ready to take another step toward becoming true contenders.
