The Ole Miss football program is being forced to rebuild ahead of the 2025 season. The Rebels lost eight players to the NFL Draft, a handful more to the transfer portal, and a dozen or so signed with various NFL teams after going undrafted.
Head coach Lane Kiffin has been a savant recruiting in the transfer portal since his arrival in Oxford, but he has also grown quite adept on the high school recruiting trail as well.
Unfortunately, three-star quarterback Zion Legree, who had been verbally committed since November 2024, decommitted earlier this month from Ole Miss and reopened his recruitment.
Lightning struck twice on the Ole Miss football program, as on Monday, On3 Sports' Billy Embody reported that 2027 four-star offensive tackle Li'Marcus Jones had also decommitted from the Rebels.
The Jackson, Mississippi native has nine total offers, according to 247 Sports. This includes rival SEC teams like Georgia, Mississippi State and Tennessee, and Jones is also drawing interest from Florida and Oklahoma.
Jones had been committed to Ole Miss since March 29, but he has since been on a visit to Florida State, attended camp at Tennessee and received a handful of more offers.
Protecting new quarterback Austin Simmons will be paramount to the Rebels' success over the coming years. Ole Miss now only has two hard commits for the 2027 class, neither of which are offensive linemen.
None of the team's eight commits for the 2026 class are offensive linemen either, so Kiffin will need to make a series of late efforts or dip into the transfer pool once again to sow up the line.
