Aces star A'ja Wilson leaves game vs. Liberty early after awkward fall on arm, wrist

Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson left their matchup with the New York Liberty early on Tuesday night after she took a hard fall and landed awkwardly on her arm and wrist.

Wilson, midway through the second quarter at the Barclays Center, attacked the rim and went up for a layup. Wilson made contact with New York's Leonie Fiebich at the rim, however, and fell awkwardly directly on her arm. She hit the floor hard, and was clearly in a lot of pain as her teammates quickly surrounded her.

Wilson eventually left the floor and went to the bench, but she returned to the game and hit a pair of free throws. A few minutes later, she left the game for good and went back to the locker room early. The team then ruled her out at halftime with what they called a wrist injury. Further specifics are not yet known.

Wilson had two points and four rebounds in the first half after she went 0-of-3 from the field. The Aces took a two-point lead into the locker room at the break.

Wilson, a three-time league MVP, entered the night averaging 21.9 points and nine rebounds per game this season, her eighth in the WNBA.
