Four-team trades are highly improbable to ever happen, but they're sure fun to think about.
CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin created an absolutely wild one for us to consider that features the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints.
In this trade proposal, all three of Brock Purdy, Tua Tagovailoa and Kirk Cousins change teams.
The terms:
- 49ers get: QB Kirk Cousins (Falcons), 2026 second-round pick (Dolphins), 2026 third-round pick (Saints)
- Dolphins get: QB Brock Purdy (49ers)
- Saints get: QB Tua Tagovailoa (Dolphins)
- Falcons get: C Matt Hennessy (49ers), 2026 fifth-round pick (Saints)
This is Benjamin's logic:
"The 49ers just paid Purdy, which is, but we know Kyle Shanahan has an affinity for his old pal Cousins, and we know Cousins is currently blowing in the wind, awaiting an opportunity as Atlanta's No. 2. The Purdy-to-Cousins swap might be a downgrade in 2025, but adding a couple of early-round picks could help San Francisco replenish its greater infrastructure.
"Miami, meanwhile, might embrace a more dynamic signal-caller for Mike McDaniel's timing-based offense, while sending Tagovailoa to another former left-handed quarterback in Kellen Moore, whose Saints are sorely inexperienced under center.
"Even considering Tua's injury history, you can bet veterans like Alvin Kamara, Chris Olave and Brandin Cooks might prefer a proven passer as Moore installs his offense."

It would definitely be wild for the 49ers to move Purdy so soon after paying him.
It'd be quite the coup for the Saints to solve their QB situation with Tua (if he can stay healthy).
The Falcons get off of Cousins without having to give up a ton else, which would probably be fine with them.
The Dolphins can't be too upset to get Purdy in the movement.
It's really just San Francisco, ending up with the aging and declining Cousins, that could really take issue with this.
It won't ever happen, you wouldn't think, but what a wild thought experiment.
