Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has announced a strategic alliance with Indian hospitality group Cygnett Hotels & Resorts to expand its footprint in South Asia.
The collaboration will introduce Wyndham's La Quinta and Registry Collection Hotels brands to India and add more than 60 hotels across India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal over the next decade.
This move is aimed at capitalising India's growing travel sector, driven by infrastructure investments, a growing middle class, and increased tourism.
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts EMEA president Dimitris Manikis said: “This partnership is the next chapter in Wyndham’s Eurasia growth story, with India as a key strategic market that we’ve grown alongside for decades. Cygnett shares our commitment to sustainable, long-term growth while meeting the rising demand from travellers seeking experiences that blend comfort, authenticity, and excellence.
“We’re introducing elevated stays across the full spectrum from stylish, quality hotels to distinctive luxury escapes, bringing Wyndham’s world-class brands to even more sought-after destinations across the region.”
As part of the partnership, Wyndham and Cygnett have entered an exclusive ten-year development agreement to launch and develop the La Quinta by Wyndham brand in India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
This move encompasses new builds and conversions, with the first openings anticipated by the end of next year.
The brand, which caters to both business and leisure guests in the upper midscale segment, has a portfolio of 900 locations worldwide.
Simultaneously, the two companies will launch Registry Collection Hotels in India via a non-exclusive ten-year agreement, which will see the development of ten hotels in the country.
These will be co-branded with Cygnett's newly introduced luxury five-star brand Anamore, with the inaugural hotel anticipated to welcome guests as early as 2026.
With more than 30 locations around the globe, Registry Collection Hotels is known for its boutique and luxury hotels.
Cygnett Hotels & Resorts founder and managing director Sarbendra Sarkar said: “We are proud to help grow La Quinta and Registry Collection Hotels, two global brands that perfectly complement our portfolio and align with the rising demand in the region for high-quality hotel and guest experiences.
“Our extensive regional network and commitment to brand integrity uniquely position us to drive the successful rollout of these brands across South Asia.”
Wyndham's current portfolio in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh already features more than 70 hotels, with brands such as Ramada by Wyndham and Wyndham Garden.
