England are on the back foot at Euro 2025 after an opening defeat to France left the holders in “must-win” territory going into the rest of the tournament.
The Lionesses head into tonight’s game against the Netherlands knowing that defeat could result in an early exit from their tournament after a 2-1 defeat to France in Zurich.
France could reach the quarter-finals with a win over tournament debutants Wales, who would also be out unless they pick up a point after their 3-0 defeat to the Netherlands.
Sweden and Germany booked their place in the knockout stages after backing up their opening wins on Tuesday night. Sweden defeated Poland 3-0 while Germany came from behind to beat Denmark.
Spain ensured their progress through to the quarter-finals on Monday with a 6-2 win over Belgium. Italy are in a strong position to join them but Portugal managed to stay alive in Group B with a late equaliser to avoid elimination in the 1-1 draw in Geneva.
