WNBA Recognizes Mercury Star as Top Facilitator This Season

WNBA star Alyssa Thomas has displayed her chemistry with her Phoenix Mercury teammates this season. It's her first campaign after spending the last 11 seasons of her career with the Connecticut Sun. However, Thomas looks like she's spent nearly a decade playing with her teammates, given how she's performed so far.

Thomas has provided the much-needed experience that the Mercury needed after they parted ways with Brittney Griner. In the first 33 games of the year, Thomas is averaging 14.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 8.9 assists on 53.2% shooting from the field.

The star player's strong all-around game has contributed to their 11-4 season record.

Out of everything the five-time All-Star does on the floor, her passing is something that many have adored. This season, the league recognized how great of a floor general Thomas is as she leads the WNBA in assists with 89. Out of everyone on the list, the three-time All-NBA star is the only frontcourt player.

"Alyssa Thomas takes the top spot with a total of 89 AST!" the WNBA posted.

This season, Thomas has four straight games where she has had at least 10 assists. Together with her new teammates, Satou Sabally and Kahleah Copper, Thomas has more options to keep the basketball moving.

The Mercury is also encouraging fans to keep voting the star forward to be selected in the 2025 WNBA All-Star.

"Alyssa Thomas is leading the league in assists per game (9.0). Alyssa Thomas is leading the league in total assists (81) although she missed 5 games. Alyssa Thomas is shooting 53% from the field," the Mercury posted. "This is an All-Star. This is Mercury Basketball."

Although Thomas may not be a high-volume scorer, her all-around game still sets her apart from other stars.
