WNBA Reacts to Big Paige Bueckers Milestone Amid Rookie Season

Paige Bueckers, the No. 1 pick in last month's WNBA draft, has brought some new hope to a star-starved Dallas Wings franchise that has had a winning record just once in the previous nine seasons.

They went 9-31 last year and have started the new season 0-3 after losing 85-81 to the Minnesota Lynx on Wednesday. However, Bueckers has just started to flash her potential.

Although she shot just 3-of-11 from the field versus the Lynx, she finished with 12 points, 10 assists and three steals. It was her first double-double as a WNBA player, and the league gave her some recognition on its official X account.

"With this assist, Paige Bueckers officially recorded the first double-double of her WNBA career!" the caption read.

"No better place to do it than at home 🧡"

Bueckers, a six-foot-tall, 141-pound guard who happens to be a native of the Minneapolis area, made her name as a big star at UConn. In her four seasons there, she had averages of 19.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists a game while shooting 53.1% from the field and 42.3% from 3-point range.

She led the Huskies to the women's NCAA championship just several weeks ago, and she also won the Wade Trophy and Big East Player of the Year award for the 2024-25 season.

She can score efficiently from all three levels, although her mid-range game, especially off the dribble, is perhaps her specialty. For the last few years, many experts have felt she has the talent and ability to become a generational superstar.
