WNBA Makes Historic Mercury Announcement After Chicago Sky Game

The Chicago Sky have now lost two straight games, having recently been defeated by the Phoenix Mercury.

On Saturday, the Sky faced the Mercury, suffering a 107-86 loss. Before losing to Phoenix, the Sky suffered a loss to the Washington Mystics. They have now lost five of their last six games.

During the matchup against the Mercury, the WNBA revealed a historic note on Phoenix guard Sami Whitcomb.

Whitcomb passed Kara Lawson for the most games in WNBA history with four or more three-pointers made off the bench. Whitcomb has achieved the feat 16 times in her career.

"A pure shooter," posted the official social media account of the WNBA. "With 5 3PM today vs. the Sky, Sami Whitcomb passes Kara Lawson (15x) for the most games in WNBA history with 4+ 3PM while coming off of the bench."

In the blowout win over the Chicago Sky, Sami Whitcomb posted 17 points, four rebounds and two assists. Most of her production came from beyond the arc, finishing the game shooting 5-for-10 from three-point range.

During her first season with the Mercury, Whitcomb has averaged 8.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

Before her time in Phoenix, Whitcomb played with the Seattle Storm and New York Liberty

Whitcomb played her first four seasons with the Storm before spending two years with the Liberty. She then returned to Seattle for the 2023 and 2024 seasons, returning to her first team ahead of her time in Phoenix.
