WNBA All-Star teams 2025: Who Caitlin Clark, Napheesa Collier selected in captain's draft

With the WNBA All-Star starters and reserves set, there was only one thing left to do: Pick the actual teams. Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark and Minnesota Lynx standout Napheesa Collier took part in the captain's draft Tuesday, where they selected their teammates for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game.

Clark and Collier were first tasked with drafting from the pool of the eight other starters, which included names like Breanna Stewart, A'ja Wilson and Paige Bueckers. Once both starting lineups were determined, Clark and Collier then drafted from the reserves.

Clark and Collier received captain honors thanks to the fan vote. Clark ranked No. 1 in fan voting for the event. Collier finished second in the fan voting. Because of that, both players were immediately named starters for the event and announced as team captains.

Clark took Boston with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. Collier countered by picking Breanna Stewart, who Collier described as her fellow co-founder of the 3-on-3 women's professional league Unrivaled. In response, Clark took Stewart's New York Liberty teammate, guard Sabrina Ionescu, giving her team an illustrious, 3-point shooting backcourt.

Clark notably didn't select Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers with her final pick because she didn't want a three-guard starting lineup that lacked size. That meant Collier was able to scoop her "Baby Husky," as the UConn alums united for the All-Star Game.

Collier got the first pick of the reserves section of the draft and grabbed her Lynx point guard, Courtney Williams. Following the same train of thought, Clark also went to a familiar well by selecting fellow Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell. As she did in the first half of the draft when picking Alisha Gray, Collier added another player from her Unrivaled Lunar Owls BC crew, Skylar Diggins.

Collier took Chicago Sky frontcourt star Angel Reese with her third reserve pick, affectionately calling her "Mebounds." Clark snagged both Washington Mystics rookies, guard Sonia Citron and forward Kiki Iriafen. With a forward-heavy lineup, Collier finished out her roster with guards Kelsey Plum and Rhyne Howard from the Los Angeles Sparks and Atlanta Dream, respectively.

Although Clark wasn't necessarily interested in trading players from her roster, she announced that her and Collier agreed to trade coaches. That means Liberty coach Sandy Brondello will be paired with Ionescu on Clark's team, and Collier will be led by her Lynx coach, Cheryl Reeve.

ESPN's Malika Andrews reported, while hosting the All-Star Game draft, that the WNBA has green lit the coaches trade Clark and Collier engineered.

With both teams set, the All-Star Game can officially get underway. WNBA All-Star weekend will take place July 18 and July 19 in Indianapolis. The league will hold its skills competition Friday, with the All-Star Game being held Saturday.

Players who were made the team but are unable to take part in the game will be replaced by WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert. While Clark has missed time this season with two different injuries, she is slated to return to action Wednesday and is expected to be good to go for the All-Star Game.

Players who participate in the All-Star Game will receive $2,575 for playing in the contest, per Front Office Sports. The game's MVP will receive a $5,150 bonus.
