Videos of the spectacle seem to show the soccer players waiting for Trump to get out of the way so they could take their victorious team photos. Even FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who has close ties to Trump, tried to lead him away, only to be ignored and eventually dismissed.

"I’m actually dying at this video Chelsea players were waiting for trump to leave but he didn’t"

"Chelsea trying to celebrate winning the World Cup with Trump in the way is FRYING ME"

The team wound up having to celebrate with Trump front and center, although they were eventually able to get him to move to the back for some of the photos. One of these ultimately served as the photo chosen by @ChelseaFC to post on social media, with only a sliver of Trump in the background, crashing their pic.

The whole thing was an utter embarrassment, leading to folks photoshopping Trump out of the pictures entirely. (Initially, there were rumors that the football club was behind this, but those were disproven.)

To add further insult, it was later reported that the trophy in question was a mere replica — Trump claims Infantino told him he keep the real $230,000 trophy in the Oval Office "forever."

Absolute clownery, but what else would we expect?

Saniya Rivers and Marina MabreySaniya Rivers and Marina Mabrey have been sparking dating rumors on social media.Footage stills via TikTok @steffloveswbb; X @haterreport_; TikTok @hbbhypehoops

When rookie Saniya Rivers joined the Connecticut Sun, she became instant besties with WNBA veteran Marina Mabrey, and their friendship quickly sparked dating rumors because of their cute — and sometimes suggestive — interactions.

The pair has become well known for Rivers attempting to teach a rhythm-deficient Mabrey how to dance and their hilarious and often flirtatious TikTok live streams.

Their antics on social media, clear chemistry (whether that’s friendship or something more, you decide), and the way Rivers has supported — ahem — Mabrey through her knee injury, have fans melting down over the possibility that there could be another WNBA couple to swoon over.

So far, neither Rivers nor Mabrey has confirmed the relationship speculation, and while Rivers is LGBTQ+, Mabrey has never indicated that she’s fam.

But between Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers hard launching their relationship, NaLyssa Smith and DiJonai Carringinton being lovers on rival teams, DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas finally getting to be teammates again, Allie Quigley and wife Courtney Vandersloot having their first baby back in April, and now Mabrey and Rivers sparking dating rumors, even if you’ve never been into sports before, there are plenty of reason to start tuning into the WNBA.

Dance lessons

From taking a hip-hop dance class together to Rivers spending her TikTok lives trying to improve Mabrey’s dance moves in the middle of the night, fans are convinced this is one of those “historians said they were just good friends” situations.

That was just a celebratory hug...right?

When Rivers picked Mabrey up while hugging her during a WNBA game that Mabrey had to sit out due to a knee injury, it was seen as just further proof to fans that they might be right about their speculation.

Matching Red Sox jerseys

Rivers and Mabrey, alongside teammate Tina Charles, threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a Red Sox game on July 7. But when they posted a pic of them embracing while wearing matching jerseys, fans were convinced that they weren’t just trolling for social media engagement but had actually fallen for each other.

Keeping each other warm

@steffloveswbb

“you gonna keep me warm” 😭😭 @✨Niya✨ @Marina Mabrey #wnba #ct #funny #live #recent #updates #saniyarivers #blowthisup #fyp #marinamabrey #update

During one of their signature wild TikTok lives, the pair were role-playing when Mabrey took Rivers’ jacket, and Rivers responded by saying, “It’s a little chilly in here, you going to warm me up?” Excuse me?!

Did they swap outfits while on live?

@wnbafun

shoutout coach niya 😍 #marinamabrey #saniyarivers #wnba #fyp

Yes. Yes, they did.

Marina telling Saniya about her flirting style

@wbbhypehoops

“imma come corrected💅” #wnba #wbb #basketball #marinamabrey #saniyarivers #sports #connecticutsun

While on TikTok live, Marina explained that when she flirts, “I just feel like if I like you, I want you, I’m going to come correct. I’m going to make sure I look absolutely fire and I’m going to have a mouthpiece.” Rivers responded, “I gotta see this in action.”

Predictably, fans on TikTok went wild for this interaction and the pair’s obvious chemistry.

Is that a vibrator?

On another wild TikTok live, the BFFs were in Mabrey’s hotel room when a suspicious vibrating sound started coming from the bed behind them. Mabrey gets up to turn something off when Rivers responds to a comment from the audience by saying, “No, somebody did not say that was her toy” before the two teammates start cracking up. Fans will likely label this interaction "Exhibit B" when trying to prove that they are dating.

What's going on under that water?

This would be Exhibit A. On July 10, a clip of Rivers and Mabrey in the water went viral, sparking even more rumors that the two are much more than besties. In the video, Mabrey can only be seen from the neck up while Rivers is behind her holding onto Mabrey and putting her weight on her injured teammate to workout her knee. But the situation is…intimate and had fans going feral in the comments.

So are they dating or besties? Only time will tell!

This flirtatious lil behavior

Look, we're not entirely sure what's going on here, but something is going on here.

You better what?

Pulling out this lip sync to Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Bark Like You Want It" certainly established some roles at play here.

"i'm starting to think they don't want to beat the allegations," one commenter replied.

Taken!

“She’s with a bad bitch.” Mmkayy!

Barbra Banda and Racheal Kundananji NaLyssa Smith and DiJonai Carrington\u200b and Vivianne Miedema, Beth MeadFrom left: pro athletes Barbra Banda and Racheal Kundananji; NaLyssa Smith and DiJonai Carrington; and Vivianne Miedema and Beth Mead.Buda Mendes/Getty Images; Erica Denhoff/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images; Catherine Ivill - AMA/Getty Images

Women’s sports are full of heartwarming love stories between players, and while there are plenty of couples who are lucky enough to play for the same team, there are some who end up as rivals.

You may think that playing against each other in professional sports and for teams with fierce rivalries would be hard on a relationship, but these sapphics manage to make it work and are thriving in spite of having to compete against each other. Maybe competition even adds a little spice to their relationships!

There are players who were once teammates before being traded to different teams, athletes who have always played against each other, and multiple couples who are currently going head-to-head, but no matter what, their love for one another outweighs their competitive spirit.

NaLyssa Smith (Las Vegas Aces) and DiJonai Carrington (Dallas Wings)

NaLyssa Smith and Dijonai Carrington are college sweethearts that played together on the Dallas Wings until Smith was traded earlier this month to the Las Vegas Aces. After years of playing on opposing teams, the WNBA power couple were finally playing together for the first time since they were both Baylor star athletes, until that all came crashing down, and now the happy couple will be rivals once again.

Barbra Banda (Orlando Pride) and Racheal Kundananji (Bay FC)

Soccer stars Barbra Banda and Racheal Kundananji are currently playing for Zambia at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where they both scored in the opening match. But when they are not representing Zambia, these partners in life play on rival teams in the National Women’s Soccer League. Banda is a striker for the Orlando Pride, while Kundananji is a forward for the Bay FC.

Beth Mead (England’s Lionesses) and Vivianne Miedema (Netherland’s national team)

Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema started dating back in 2022 when they both played soccer for Arsenal, but that only lasted until Miedema moved onto play for Manchester. Now, the lovers are facing their biggest hurdle yet as they play against each other in the UEFA European Women's Championship (AKA Euro 2025). Mead is playing for England’s Lionesses where she’s currently going head to head with Miedema who is representing the Netherlands’s national team.

Kristie Mewis (Chelsea) and Sam Kerr (West Ham United)

After going viral in 2021 at the Tokyo Olympics when they were caught hugging on camera, and then subsequently announcing their engagement in 2023, soccer power couple Kristie Mewis and Sam Kerr have been rivals on the pitch for years. They may have collaborated when they had a baby in May 2025, but Mewis is currently playing for Chelsea while her fiancé plays for rival team West Ham United.

Celia Quansah (Trailfinders) and Meg Jones (Leicester Tigers)

Rugby stars Celia Quansah and Meg Jones competed together on the same rugby team in the Tokyo Olympics and were once both playing for the Leicester Tigers together, but this year Quansah was traded to the Trailfinders and now the happy couple will be competing against each other for the first time.

Heath spent her soccer career kicking butt at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where she took home a bronze medal and in 2008 and 2012 where she won gold. She also managed to win two World Cup Championships while playing alongside Press.

“Over New Year’s I actually came to the full acceptance that I wasn’t going to be playing, which was like a two year, some might say three year, process of acceptance and it was a very beautiful and personal experience for me, for you, for the people closets to me that I shared it with,” Heath explained on the episode of her podcast on July 10, titled Tobin's Retirement.

The 37-year-old forward also detailed how her decisions was influenced by recent injuries that required surgeries and kept her from playing.

“For two years I’d really held on to it. And you know, like I tried everything to get back. I spent tens of thousands of dollars and two surgeries, one crazy surgery, and like the whole time I believed I was going to get back. And yeah, like the writing was definitely on the wall and I just couldn’t accept that that was like my ending,” Heath said as she wiped tears from her eyes.

The comments under the YouTube video of the podcast is full of people wishing Heath well, celebrating the love she shares with Press, and mourning the loss of their favorite player.

“Tobin, THANK YOU!!! You've been a joy to watch. Be Well, Enjoy Life. I love that you and #23 found each other,” one person wrote.

Someone else commented, “Damn so now im crying at work….”

“my favorite player of all time,” another person posted. “Tobin, we will always remember what you were like on the pitch. The joy, the creativity, the wizardry. I will always be in awe. Thank you for everything.”
