Walmart's offering up fantastic tech deals that have me totally hooked. And since I'm on the hunt for a new laptop as well as a travel-friendly tablet, and I found a perfect hybrid of the two among their many impressive tech deals. It's the HP x360 Touch Chromebook, a powerhouse laptop that doubles as a lightweight tablet, touchscreen and all. Its full retail price is $299, but Walmart knocked that down to a sweet $189, so the deal is sealed: "Add to cart" I go!
This sleek, sky blue, convertible laptop is ideal for scrolling, streaming, spreadsheets and schoolwork.
Why is it a good deal? 💰
Math was never my strong suit, but let me break it down for you anyway (*takes out calculator*). A $299 Chromebook reduced to $189 is nearly 40% off. And this is HP we're talking about, one of the top-ranked computer brands in the country. The gadget itself has nearly 2,000 five-star ratings, and it's essentially two devices in one. Use it like a traditional laptop with the keyboard and touchpad, or pivot its 360-degree hinge to convert the device to tablet mode.
Plus, it has an industry-best Intel N100 processor and a generous 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. All of that for less than $200 is more than a good deal — it's exceptional.
Why do I need this? 🤔
This Chromebook is a great example of Walmart's knack for offering discounts on items we all need. The Intel processor ensures smooth, glitch-free performance whether you're running a small business or binge-watching your favorite show. It has built-in virus protection and updates automatically, so you don't need to be tech-savvy to maintain it, either. It even boots up in under 10 seconds.
What I love the most, though, is how lightweight it is; it's just over 3 pounds, which is great for me as a frequent traveler. It's also convenient for commuters or anyone who likes to keep their computer within arm's reach most days. Its slim profile makes it easy to pop in your tote, and its battery lasts for up to 10 hours while you're on the go. And this Chromebook comes right out of the box with a lot of your favorite apps, like YouTube for streaming, Minecraft for gaming, and Microsoft 365 for getting some work done at a cafe or outside on your deck.
Deals like this aren't saved to the cloud, so best to act now. (Walmart)
What the reviewers say 💬
The HP x360 Touch Chromebook is a Walmart fan favorite, and customers are raving about its ease of setup as well as its performance and design.
Pros 👍
"I love this Chromebook! I spent a few weeks deciding — going back and forth on a few — and I definitely made the right decision. Excellent quality, picture and it's so easy to set up. Just beautiful," one customer wrote. "Phenomenal experience so far. Setup was easy, fast and simple," added another.
Purchasers appreciate that you can use the device in multiple ways. "It's great that it's a laptop, but it can act like a touchscreen," one savvy reviewer said. "I don't have to worry about my screen breaking away from the keyboard ever. My last expensive laptop cracked away from the bottom because it tilted back one time just a little — it cost over $200 to repair. I got this laptop in the meantime and just love it. It's better than my expensive broken laptop."
"Excellent value for such an advanced tablet," one customer said of the Chromebook. "I can have several Twitch streams going and still work on another screen. I am more than pleased with all the features."
And yet another fan said the device has "everything I need to email, research personal topics, shop and go on social media. It even works pretty well for video games and has great pictures for movies on the go. Very versatile as a tablet."
Many shoppers commented on its small, sleek size, too. "It is compact in size, so it is very easy to pack up and take with you on the go," confirmed one. "The x360 feature is one of the best things about it! Once you fold it in half, it becomes a complete tablet."
Cons 👎
Some customers are a bit put off by a few of the Chromebook's physical quirks. "I love this Chromebook so far. The only dislike would be that when you have it positioned in the typical way a laptop sits, and use it as a touchscreen, the screen wobbles a bit. That's just a nitpick, though," one wrote.
Another customer said, "I'd give it five stars, but it drives me insane when the screen leans backwards on its own. The rest works amazingly."
Others found that the laptop didn't stay juiced up quite as long as promised. "My only complaint is the battery doesn't last long before a recharge is needed," one claimed, while another said the battery lasted "max six hours."
Just fold that 14-inch screen all the way back until it’s flat against the bottom. The keyboard will automatically disable, and bam — it's a tablet!
