UN Secretary-General António Guterres pledged support on Monday to Ukraine, which was attacked more than three years ago by Russia, for a potential reconstruction effort.
During a conversation with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, at the fourth UN Conference on Financing for Development in Seville, southern Spain, the UN chief highlighted the United Nations' commitment to supporting the Ukrainian government's efforts to address humanitarian, reconstruction and recovery needs, his spokesman said.
Guterres also stressed the importance of achieving a complete, immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine. He said this would be a first step towards a just, comprehensive and sustainable peace that fully respects the UN Charter, international law and General Assembly resolutions.
