Tyler Adams' Comments About Playing at Gold Cup Could Cause Friction with Christian Pulisic

In the controversy heard around the soccer world, Christian Pulisic opted not to play in the Gold Cup for the United States Men's National Team.

The 26-year-old phenom chose to rest after a tremendous season with Serie A club AC Milan. While he did offer to play in the friendlies before the Gold Cup, new USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino wasn't on board with the idea.

Even without headliners like Pulisic, Antonee Robinson, Yunus Musah and Weston McKennie, the USMNT was still able to advance to the final of the tournament, where they lost to Mexico 2-1.

One notable regular who chose to suit up was midfielder Tyler Adams, who when appearing on CBS' "Call It What You Want," appeared to throw some subtle shade at the guys who skipped.

The Bournemouth standout expressed that his body was tired after a full Premier League campaign, but still found it important to show up.

"To be quite frank with you I was happy I was able to even make it through the tournament," Adams said. "Was my body in a position to play at the highest level come Gold Cup? No chance, but I know I have to be there and continue to try and support these boys, and give myself an opportunity to continue to try and cement myself in this national team and leave a legacy behind."

To add some fuel to the fire, host and former USMNT forward Charlie Davies asked Adams why he didn't ask for a vacation, which Adams laughed off.

Although Adams didn't directly name-drop Pulisic, it certainly seems like his comments were directed at a certain someone. While he may have deserved a break, Pulisic's decision clearly was not a popular one to say the least.
