Trent Williams is officially questionable for Week 2

The San Francisco 49ers tried out a left-footed punter on Friday so punt returner Skyy Moore could practice fielding punts from a left-footed punter. The New Orleans Saints have a left-footed punter, Kai Kroeger.

Jauan Jennings was at practice on Friday. You could tell that he’s bracing his left shoulder. The right one looks fine:

Trent Williams has yet to practice this week. He was working off to the side with the strength and conditioning staff. Williams is one of the rare exceptions where he doesn’t have to practice and can still suit up to play on Sunday.

Kyle Shanahan said despite Williams being listed as limited on Friday’s injury report, he was out there for everything. The team went at half speed. He also said the playing surface in New Orleans has nothing to do with Williams’s status for Sunday.

The Saints ruled out old friend Chase Young. New Orleans will also be without guard Trevor Penning and starting safety Julian Blackmon. Their starting right tackle and first-round pick from a season ago, Taliese Fuaga, is questionable.
