Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce didn't have his typically excellent season in 2024. Kelce registered just 832 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns during the year, his lowest totals since his rookie season.
With Kelce getting older, some wondered whether the 35-year-old would hang up his cleats after a down year. If anything, though, Kelce's struggles were what motivated him to come back in 2025.

Kelce discussed his decision to continue his NFL career while speaking with reporters at team minicamp Wednesday. He said it wasn't a tough choice.
"I love football. I don't think I really thought about it that much," Kelce said. "My friends and family and the team, the guys and women in this building ... I love coming to work every day. It wasn't a very tough one for me.
"I know I'm getting older, but at the same time, I still feel like I've got a lot that I can prove in this league. With that being said, man, it really wasn't that hard of a decision for me."
Kelce added that he was motivated to return after the Chiefs were defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. He said he wasn't pleased with his play or his leadership during that loss.
"Last year, I think I failed, especially in that last game in being a leader and being the one that can step up and make plays," he said.
"I just didn't make the plays I feel like I should have made. I didn't get open in certain situations ... Motivating my guys to get the energy and the focus and the confidence we needed during that game. In that area, I just felt like I failed my guys."
In preparation for his 13th year in the NFL, Kelce confirmed he lost some weight ahead of the 2025 season. He said he had more time in the offseason to work on things, and believes that extra work will pay off.
As for his goals, Kelce only has one thing in mind: Another Super Bowl win. In fact, that's the only way Kelce is going to consider 2025 a success.
"[Winning a championship] is the only way I determine whether it's a success or not," he said.
