Thunder’s Jalen Williams Joins Russell Westbrook With Historic NBA Finals Performance

The Oklahoma City Thunder were at home on Monday night as they faced off against the Indiana Pacers in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

Oklahoma City entered Monday’s contest looking to grab a victory on their home court to take total control of the series.

That is exactly what they were able to do as they used a dominant first half and third quarter to grab the 120-109 victory.

The Thunder saw their stars and key rotational players show out in Game 5 on Monday, especially on the defensive side of the ball but it was Jalen Williams who led the way for Oklahoma City.

Williams ended the victory with 40 points, six rebounds, four assists and one steal while shooting 14-for-25 from the field and 3-for-5 from three-point range.

It was a historic performance for the 24-year-old forward as he recorded his third consecutive game with 25 or more points and also set a new playoff career-high with 40 points.

Williams also made Thunder history with his 40-point performance in Game 5 as he joined Russell Westbrook as the only players in franchise history to score 40 points in an NBA Finals Game.

Of course, Westbrook accomplished the feat during the 2012 NBA Finals against the Miami Heat.

This is an incredible feat by Williams and one that the Thunder needed as they now take a commanding 3-2 lead in the series.

Of course, Williams has played a key role in Oklahoma City’s success all season as he was named an All-Star for the first time and also made both the All-NBA Second Team and All-Defensive Second Team this season.

Williams and the Thunder will now head to Indianapolis for Game 6 on Thursday night as they try to win the franchise’s first championship since relocating to Oklahoma City.
