Three reinforcements for the AS Monaco Academy

AS Monaco is pleased to announce the arrivals of Belgian midfielder Matthias Wamu, Belgian central defender Daryl Leunga Leunga, and Danish striker Ekene Chukwuani. These three young players have signed professional contracts with the Rouge et Blanc and will join the Academy.

Matthias Wamu – Midfielder 🇧🇪

Matthias Wamu completed his entire training in Belgium. After starting out at KSC Grimbergen (2014-2017), the midfielder continued his career at Oud-Heverlee Leuven (2017-2019), then at Standard de Liège (2019-2021), before joining KAA Gent. With “Les Buffalos”, the young 1m88 tall player, who will celebrate his 17th birthday on October 22, will discover the UEFA Youth League during the 2024-2025 season. At the same time, he made his professional debut with Jong Genk, the reserve team, in the Challenger Pro League (Belgian second division). A defensive midfielder also capable of playing in central defense, Matthias Wamu has more than twenty caps with the Red Devils, from U15 to U17.

Daryl Leunga Leunga – Defender 🇧🇪

A native of Liège, Daryl Leunga Leunga has moved through the ranks, at Standard. Having played in 19 matches with the U18 Elite during the 2024-2025 season (1 goal), the defender has been retained by the coach of the first team for the first two days of the Jupiler Pro League. On the strength of his performances with “les Rouches”, the young 1m89 right-footed player, 17 years old since June 9, was able to taste international competitions in the youth selection: he thus has 4 selections with the Belgium U15 and 4 others with the Red Devils U16.

Ekene Chukwuani – Forward 🇩🇰

Born on January 7, 2009 and originally from Hvidovre, Ekene Chukwuani stands out for his offensive qualities and his eye for goal. An athletic left-footed center forward (1.87m), also capable of playing on the right side of the attack, Ekene started playing for “B1973 Herlev”, before defending the colors of the Akademisk Boldklub and then Bröndby IF. The Danish U17 international (3 caps, 2 goals), who also played with the Danish Dynamite U16s, is coming off a remarkable season with the Bröndby U17s, where he scored no fewer than 25 goals in 23 matches.
