Cologne-based STRABAG AG (Strabag) has announced the acquisition of Sandkamp Tiefbau, a pipeline construction company from Gronau, Germany.
Financial specifics of the transaction, which has been in effect retroactively from 1 January 2025, were not shared.
Strabag is a key player in Germany's construction industry and part of Austria's STRABAG SE. The company is known for its comprehensive services in the construction of transport infrastructure.
This move is set to bolster Strabag's competitive stance in the pipeline construction sector for public utility providers.
The acquisition is aimed at strengthening the company's regional market presence and customer relationships in Westmünsterland.
According to a press release, the addition of Sandkamp Tiefbau, a certified family business with over a century of expertise in pipeline, cable, and sewer construction, will extend Strabag's team of specialists.
In addition, the integration of Sandkamp's workforce is expected to facilitate closer collaboration with other units within STRABAG SE.
All 25 Sandkamp Tiefbau employees will be integrated into the Strabag team, operating in Nordhorn and Gronau.
Strabag's Nordhorn division has long been a specialist partner for public utilities.
Strabag Nordhorn business unit commercial manager Dirk Jacobs said: "There is a lot to do in the region, so we are all the more pleased that we can further expand our business area with this acquisition and welcome new, highly committed colleagues to our ranks."
Sandkamp Tiefbau owner Johannes Sandkamp said: "After many generations of ownership, it was essential to us to develop a long-term perspective for our company and our valued employees. I am delighted that we have found the ideal partner in the Nordhorn unit of Strabag and that our team is in safe hands for the future."
