The Indiana Fever recently had a change to their lineup, losing a player midway through the season.
As the Fever prepared for a game against the Los Angeles Sparks, playing without Caitlin Clark, who was ruled out with a groin injury, they were also missing a front-court member.
Damiris Dantas left the Fever due to an overseas commitment with the Brazilian national team.
Before the departure of Dantas, White revealed her thoughts on the loss of one of the Fever's best players inside the paint. She mentioned that Indiana will have to change its rotations, given the hand they were dealt.
"I think it’s something innate about her," White said. "Her ability to stretch the floor, what she brings to the table as a pick and pop threat while still maintaining the physicality of being able to defend bigger, stronger offensive players. We won’t get the same looks that we have with DD on the floor but putting together rotations that could give us different kind of looks while still keeping the floor spacer for AB is going to be impotent."
According to ESPN, Dantas will miss at least five games and her earliest return could be against the Golden State Valkyries on July 9.
Damiris Dantas is currently in her second season with the Indiana Fever.
After playing under Christie Sides last season, she's carved a solid role with the Fever. During her second season in Indiana, Dantas has posted 5.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.
Dantas has played 12.3 minutes per game in her 13-game action for the Fever.
While the Fever will miss her paint presence, they will rely on Aliyah Boston and Natasha Howard in their front court.
Boston finished the game against the Sparks with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
They wound losing to the Sparks 85-75.
